To Tell the Truth   Year: 1997 | Run Time: 5:10

Written by Bill Mallonee for CyBrenJoJosh (BMI)

so much clamor in my neck of the woods
so many people to please i'm not sure if i could
i'm so involved i'm so amused
so well respected so consumed

to tell the truth i've not been feeling well
at least these last few nights
in my unguarded moments
maybe all of my life

so much push so much pull
so much graffiti inside my skull
squatter's rights will sometimes serve you well
get you right out of town or land you squarely in jail

fumbling with pen and i'm scratching at steel
stretched across this wood trying to make you a deal
the deal's going badly and the offer went south
??? a bad taste in your mouth

lately i have wondered
it might not be so (real) true
some people in this life
never get the dung off of their shoes

so how do you trust beyond the appearance
the end of the day does it really make any difference
heaven isn't here yet so the flesh will have to do
that's a sad reminder of what i know to be true

so how far does love go to what great lengths
how deep does grace flow what do you think
if i tell the truth if i'm lost at sea
sometimes you shoot the wounded put them out of misery

Did You Know?

This appeared on an unofficial Slow Dark Train demo.
