that the Lord is good
you can't bring Him anything He ain't seen before
you little beggar at the back door
and your bandages make you clownish
take your eyes off of you
and the shit on your shoes
why were you so very surprised
at what you're capable of
the shedding of blood
don't you think that He knew
about all of that
all the time
all i really wanted all i really needed
when it got so cold in this space
was a place in your heart
and some light for my face
and life is a gift you might as well open it slow
examine the tensile and bows
and the wrapping don't you lose it
when every kind word you're like to ever hear
came from God's heart dear
so why don't you get used to it
