Love Cocoon   Run Time: 3:45

(There is an another version of this song with alternate lyrics. Show me.)

Written by Bill Mallonee for Irving Music, Inc., Allegiance Music, Russachugama Music and CyBrenJoJosh (BMI) ©1990, 1992

i wanna attack your flesh with glad abandon
i wanna look for your fruits and put my hand on them
i wanna turn up the thermostat beneath your skin
i wanna uncover your swimming hole and dive right in

i'm a moth flying into the light of his doom
you wrap me up in your love cocoon

now there's an explosion of grace dripping in my bed
is it somewhere else is it in my head
is it sweet and tender is it rough and ready
is it fragile and delicate is it rock hard steady

now the world keeps on banging and they come and go
it's a part of their scenery it's a part of their show
but i've got this wedding band wrapped around my finger
honey i'll be your poet darling i'll be your singer

some call it freedom some call it shackle
but let's get together and build a tabernacle
of holy flesh and holy mirth
we'll confute the enemy and enjoy the worth

Did You Know?

Described by Bill as "a Biblical Song of Solomon set to a Rolling Stones sort of groove," this song was released as a single off of Slow Dark Train against the wishes of the band. This caused the album to be banned from many Christian bookstores. The same bookstores that banned Slow Dark Train because of this song were carrying Jugular, which contains the same song. But because it was released as a single, it drew attention to the song. Bill says, "'Love Cocoon' is too precious to me to turn it into a commodity and have everybody hootiehoo for it all night long."

Appeared On…
